This can be such an addictive hobby!
Depending on the look you want you can take some peat moss put in a thick plastic bag and stomp it to get out the big clumps then pick out biggish sticks. If you need finer texture go to the dollar store and look for a wire fruit basket or large hole strainer. Quarter inch wire screen or fence that you attach to a frame. I've got two English riddles with 1/8" and 1/4" holes.
