Great for those of us on the other coast who will likely never get there.

LOVE their Green Man.
And the Tetrapanax leaves, and I still love those sprouts.
Big love affair with leaves, those two, their sculptures all but
submerged in all that lush, many-textured foliage.
Gotta try doing that with a Paulownia, using it for foliage.
(As fierce winds today are tearing through my poor little Bananas,
need some protective walls..)

Their garden appears wonderful this year.! And it has been an awesome growing year so far!
The racoons are great. Is the larger one holding a clam? I was at Swansons nursery yesterday around 10am. Swansons is sort of in the Big City of Seattle. There was one big fat racoon sauntering across the street headed into Swansons too. L and L have some beautiful columns set up at swansons also.
I love the spires and the vase with lemons was one they were working on last year I believe, or was one they were carving on in one of the books that they are in.

About the Hypertufa Forum. Way back when there was only Garden Accoutrements, and Garden Junk. Too much concrete/tufa talk, and all the GA and GJ ideas were being buried, which was not ok!. And just as now there were a few outspoken people who jumped in, they hounded Spike for a place, and I believe rather than try to come to an agreement with all and possibly Lose the opportunity, they chose Hypertufa................There is so much that is not tufa that is talked about here.

Hi Deb....As I mentioned..George and I had a small dinner party tonight with friends...many are the movers and shakers of the Horticulture world in the NW and across the country...anyways... if anyone would know they would.... and I did ask about the Paulownia and the consequences of cutting down a mature tree for your friend... nearly everyone at the table agreed that it would send up healthy suckers very quickly and produce the large leaves that we have grown to covet.....

Things I wish I had taken pictures of are the tetrapanax tree (you don't realize it's there until you look up and see its huge leaves silhouetted against the sky) and the hummingbird that hovered for a long moment; getting a drink from a trickle coming off one of the column fountains.

What I couldn't photograph and probably can't describe properly is the sound. The garden is separated into individual spaces with a water feature in each one...some dripping, some bubbling and some trickling. As you wander from space to space, the different water sounds ebb and flow and create a melody that interweaves with the string music playing softly in the background. It's truly magical.

We asked George if we could come live in the garden and he had the grace not to roll his eyes (wonder how many times he's heard that?)

I need a napkin, I'm drooling all over myself! "Beautiful" just doesn't do it justice. I can't imagine what it's like to be there in 3D. I can only visit through the Internet and it still takes my breath away.
