Any or all of those methods would work.
Soak in a wheel barrow full of water. Dump the water ocassionally and refill. Do that for about a week. You will notice the water is sort of milky the first day or so and then it should clear up.
There will be many different techniques out there.
I have never done much more than this.

Mr. Contrarian here: I don't soak my pots, I don't wash my pots with vinegar, when they are solid enough for me to handle without damage I plant them.

Good to know - in other words, everyone does it a little different - whatever seems to work. Like I said above, I haven't been soaking my plantars before I use them, just rinsing them alot, but then if the plants don't look so hot, I start wondering if it's because I didn't soak the pot...

dizadncr, Back in the Dark Ages,1974 to be exact, we were told to soak the pots to remove the lime so it wouldn't effect the plants. The plants don't seem to have a problem unless they are super sensitive to lime because their roots are insulated by the soil. I soak them in plain water still to help with the curing of the planter and in case someone is sensitive to lime. If someone that's sensitive to lime picks up a damp pot, they get a nice burn. I plant in 1 to 1 1/2 weeks after unmolding. I unmold in 24 to 36 hours. The water bath (plastic muck tub) helps keep it hydrated for the week before planting.

I've never soaked my pots in anything. I've even unmolded and planted with a few days. The plants still look great. I even think the lime may be good for some plants. I've never had anything die unless it's an annual and it's time is up anyway.

I was thinking about this the other day. I was soaking some pots and checking the pH of the water (it was only 7.0). I noticed the color of the water reminded me of tea, or peaty water. Cement is alkalyne, however peat is acidic. if you are using equal amounts of each and making up the rest with inert perlite, vermiculite, sand, etc. The peat and the cement would probably react somewhat. Does anyone know more about this?

I plant my hypertufa,also,as soon as it is hard enough..a week or so.
Just rinse it out with a hose first.It continues to cure,even planted up.
