Ok here goes, you use a U shape piece of wire several inches long 6" works well, and thread it through the two layers of mesh/hardware cloth. Twist it once or twice then use a pair of pliers to help get it more secure. You do not have to have it fully flush with the other piece nor but it does have to be tight. Now you have tails from the 6" piece that is twisted tight, bend the twist inward and through the mesh so that it is inside now, and not an issure for you, or you can cut the wire close to the surface.

helps bunches Dena. I just cannot seem to get it tight enough. It always breaks on me. well, I will keep at it. Just getting ready to put in the ribs just as soon as I batten down a few more hatches on the table.
This is the first time I have worked with hardware cloth.

Perhaps using 'tie wire' aka binding wire may help you. It is a black wire located in the area where you will find rebar. Their are alread formed tie wires, however they also have spooled wire. The wire is about 18-20 gauge and makes your hands really dirty. If you have someone near who has worked on a construction site where they are tieing rebar, you may have access to the alrady formed tie wire.

I think I bought a roll of that when I was tying rebar together to put in my benches ( no rebar in benches anymore) but I left some out and it appears to rust. Now I am assuming this is the same stuff cause I bought it last year in the rebar section. Will double check on that.

I just bought 2 rolls of the 22G.I think I just need some practise and once I get the hang of it,I will be good to go.

Will work on the table a little tonight. Life seems to be getting in my way.

The 22G wire will be easier to bend and tie, but may also break easier than 18 or 20 G wire. With wire the smaller the # the heavier the diameter, and possibly strength.
