Concrete in the Living Room

My son (20) says I am probably the only person in the world who plays with concrete in the living room.

This surprises me, since this is the same son who once came home from high school to find me trying to haul a muddy wheelbarrow full of concrete blocks over the front door jam. He grabbed the wheelbarrow, muscled it over the bump and into the hallway for me, then went on to his room without ever bothering to ask me what I was doing. When I pointed this out to him later, he said he was so used to my ways that it hadn't occurred to him to think anything was out of the ordinary.

Because of this, the fact that he thinks it's odd that I work on concrete leaves and small hypertufa pots in the living room makes me think it's *really* odd. Either that or he's been out in the real world long enough to discover that I'm not exactly normal and the things he always thought of as commonplace actually aren't! :)

Anyway, just for my own edification, I thought I'd check. Does anybody else play with concrete in their living rooms? Or am I really *that* strange?

strange!.... very strange.
I only go so far as to haul the mess to the basement sometimes in the winter. (so I am just partly strange)

you're not alone. Not that I have too many choices where I am.
It gets mixed outside.

Now, if the subject line had read 'Compost in the Living Room', that might be a bit different.

I've played with it in lot's of places, but only the basement indoors. My living room has hardwood floors I love. I'd have a hard time bringing concrete in there.

I make to much of a mess to play with concrete in the house. That and hauling it up steps.

If I could I would though. Cant do much outside when its 100 degrees out

I guess the consensus is that I'm weird but I'm not alone. :) I can live with that!

I may have everyone beat here, but let me qualify by saying that my bedroom is in the basement (split-level house) and that it's the 2nd largest room in the house (aside from the livingroom/diningroom.) In the winter, it's the best place to work because it's warm, but not hot. In the summer, it's sometimes the most comfortable room because it's cooler than outdoors (often +100F.)

I have an invitation to a local garden club to teach a class in hypertufa in October. My first go round as a teacher. It's exciting. Do you think that I'll have to change my name to Medusa if I make other people tufa addicts by turning them (on) to stone(making)? :P

What can I say? I'm stoned most of the time (I love saying that), and an avowed addict. I'm waiting for an intervention any day now.... ;D

Singed, but unrepentant... ;D

I think the livingroom sounds like a good idea. I'm running out of room in the carport,kitchen and laundry room.
I'll ask the hubby!!!!
