Hi, I make cement leaves of different sizes, the small ones are set in 1 day and the large ones take 2 days. I love to make them, I can't stop!!

I was curious about curing hypertufa.
Altho I am also saving instructions for cement casting and molding so I appreciate your response..

TF, I know that you said "cure" but people don't always use the right terminology. I don't always use the right terminology!! Are you talking about when to unmold hypertufa? Small to medium planters/troughs can be unmolded in 24 hours. Or are you talking about strength? A planter/trough will be at 90% strength after 7 days. Billie

It also depends on your recipe. Sand-based hypertufa strengthens several days faster than vermiculite-based.

Hypertufa goes by the same general rules as straight concrete:

* It will set up in a few hours.
* It can be unmolded (carefully) in 24 hours, but is still fragile.
* It will be 90% or so CURED in 28 days, and all the wishing and additives will not change that time period.
* The concrete part will harden even more as time goes by.
* Hypertufa itself will begin to deteriorate when the organic materials in it begin to break down.
* Hypertufa has a far shorter life, generally estimated at 10 years, than concrete itself. This life will be determined by ingredients, exposure to the elements, and exposure to the local freeze/thaw periods.
