Selling your products online

Hi all,

I have read quite a few references to selling products online that you have been creating. I would be happy to provide anyone with whatever information that you need to do so - I am well versed in this as it is my main business that takes me away from creating artificial rock sculptures. =)

I can point anyone in the right direction however the information that I have will be most useful to the Canadians looking to sell online as the Canadian Merchant Account industry can be quite overwhelming.

Feel free to ask away and I will try to keep a close eye on this thread and answer all questions.

Hi Steve,

I'll be interested to watch this thread myself.

From working the past couple of years with net-based businesses I can second that comment about the merchant account business. This wasn't my department, I was handling the infrastructure end of things, but I saw the big guy go through no end of grief with merchant accounts on both sides of the border (US-Can). Heaven forbid that you should come into any misunderstanding with those people; aye caramba,

Happy to help with any information that you are looking for. As for CAD and USD processing - yes it is difficult (USA is actually the easiest and most liberal market in the world)

I also spend a great deal of time with international processing solutions and global currency solutions...if you think a business in Canada or the USA has it rough - try being a business owner from India or basically anywhere in the Asia Pacific - THAT is difficult to be sure!

Canada is just difficult as the banking industry is so conservative - but there definately are great solutions to be found, you just need to do a great deal of research to find them.

One benefit with Canada is the market remains virtually untouched becasue we are in the shadow of the USA market which is approximately 10 times the size. SOOOO often I will find something that I want to buy online but they only charge in USD, only ship to the USA etc.

Selling in Canada is where its at right now since there is very little market competition across the board.

Anyway - we shall see if this thread gets attention or not...

Steve - selling things online is an interesting idea in that it appears you can take a few simple photos, sign up with something like ebay, and sell away without worrying about any details. (perhaps it sounds simple to me because I have never really looked into it!)

However, I have a feeling you are talking about a more "big time" approach for people who want to run an online business not sell a few concrete leaves. I am curious about the point at which someone would decide to try to tackle what you are talking about.... when they had a successful local business and wanted to expand sales online? when they had a very expensive product or
service to promote? or??????

This is a purely intellectual question - I am not selling anything - so don't devote a lot of time to it. I just thought you might have a quick answer.
