Callas (esp Z. aethiopica) are very difficult subjects for indoor culture. They need more light than is available in most homes in order to develop strong self-supporting stems & to bloom. Constant moisture is also essential during their growth period. After blooming, they enter a dormant period when the foliage dies back & care has to be taken to ensure that they don't get too much moisture. If you succeed in bringing them to bloom, chances are you'll agree with me that all the fuss & bother simply isn't worth the relatively short bloom season. If you've seen magnificent callas growing indoors, chances are great that they were recently moved there after being brought to bloom in a greenhouse.

The smaller Z. elliottiana and Z. rehmannii are somewhat easier & offer a wider range of colors, but don't make as dramatic a statement as a well-grown aethiopica. There's also Z. aethiopica minor, which I've never seen. I've read that it's much less difficult than the standard calla & re-blooms after 'rest' periods without ever going fully dormant.

If you garden outdoors & can find a place for them, I suspect you'll enjoy them MUCH more as cut flowers than you will as house plants.

Thanks for the advice...prehaps I'll go silk with this one?

Yes! In this case, silk is an excellent idea.
