I have cast plume poppy. I like the leaf to resemble what it looks like on the plant. Plume poppy are flat on the plant, so I most often cast them flat. They are amazingly resiliant. There were just a couple years they were popular in this area, then everyone figured it out they were very invasive, and hide underground even when you think you have gotten them all. I purchased one plant this year and it will remain in a pot.
Ruth I did not experience the same thing as you, however I think there is a time in the growing of some leaves that they respond ever so quirky

I guess I timed it just right! Or rather, just wrong! I've concreted two of them (one flat, one slightly shaped because it was bigger and not as flat) and had the same trouble with both. The thin coat of really sticky Portland/Elmer's seems to be the key so far; time will tell whether it holds up well or not!

She gave me a baby to plant in my yard -- invasive isn't a problem, since this is a 90-year-old log cabin with 90 years' worth of English ivy, hazelnuts, volunteer rhododendrons, and blackberry vines that have already claimed much of the perimeters. It's a constant battle to keep them from overtaking the rest (not to mention trying to unearth the trees the ivy has buried -- we were here 3 months before I discovered there was a magnolia tree in the side yard!), so thornless non-tree-climbing invasives are fine with me!
