Fun with kids

My grandkids came to visit wanting to make something to enter in the county fair. My granddaughter wanted to expand on her sphere technique by trying to add glass blobs to a sphere and embedding them to allow light to shine through.

My grandson was inspired by the picture of a concrete stump Laura sent me and decided to try making one of those. (Thanks Laura!)

Although both projects are still in the curing process and the sphere still needs to have more quikwall removed from the blobs you can see the results to date at the link below.

Kids are such fun to work with. Do these projects make them young crete(tures)?

Sorry about the poor image quality of a few of the pictures. I think it's because I resized them. I'll take better pictures the next time I visit and replace the bad ones. Sorry.

I saw the pics, and they are great. Your grandchildren can be very proud of their creations. What fun for you to share this with them. Their art will last a life time now. Good job.

Fleur - I saw the photos. I know you are thrilled to have these grandkids come up with such innovative ideas and then be able to carry them out with so much success! just think... a 10 year old who had a completely original design idea with the glass blobs being part of the concrete structure. wow. That is a lovely sphere. I hope you will add a photo of the hands holding it up when everything cures.
Hats off to your grandson also. He just made a stump bench that is far better than most of the ones I have seen (certainly better than any I have made). I hope they get a lot of pleasure out of their projects! I enjoyed seeing them.

Fleur --- Looks like you are growing some competition for me! Outstanding! The world needs more Faux Bois artisans and he's off to a running start. He's also living proof that "even a kid can do it". He is certainly welcome on my website anyday and best of luck at the fair.

I emailed your post to my daughter. Sometimes it's easier to send it to her and let her get around to it than it is to drag her to the computer.

She has exhaused all the local stores supplies of duct tape in the quest to create the perfect duct tape purse. She's transformed her room with paints in ways I NEVER would have dreamed of.

I'm hoping seeing your grandkids creations will light the spark for her. Then we can explore this new outlet together. Thanks for the inspirations!
