Using a chainlink fence as a base?

Hi there,

I've lurked on this forum on and off over the years, enjoying all the creativity from all the posters and getting inspiration for some of my own projects. I finally joined because I wanted to ask a question (selfish I guess, sorry). The boundary of my property on one side has a tall laurel hedge that belongs to my neighbour, and we installed a chainlink fence on our side to keep our pets in. Now I was hoping the hedge would eventually cover the fence but it's not working out that way. Also, the neighbour now has small children and although the hedge does muffle some of the sound, sometimes it's a little hard to enjoy the deck (if you know what I mean). Anyway, I have an idea to build a faux rock wall using the chainlink as an armature but my husband doesn't think this will work - be too heavy and fall over or something. It's only a 5 foot fence and I think if I us light weight concrete and make sure and taper the width of it; it would work.

Any thoughts? Anyone try something like this before?

I really appreciate your input and experience,

Thank you,

CW
