History stone mold question

Has anyone tried using a hypertufa mix in a History Stone mold before and if so, do you have any advice for me? I've only made cement and stained glass stepping stones to date so this is totally new and uncharted territory for me. (I have to admit that the tufa pieces that I own were all purchased but I've always wanted to try it myself!)

Would a mix of equal mix of portland cement, vermiculite, and peat moss work best or is there a different mix that might work better? I think I would like the weathered and less than perfect effect that hypertufa might give the pieces rather than using only cement for the molds.

Any advice would really be appreciated as I'm working up the nerve to try something with the molds this weekend. I tried a search of the forum first but the search feature doesn't seem to be working.

Oh, and while I'm asking my novice questions, here's one more... I assume that by "parts" that it means measurement by volume and not weight? (I'm actually blushing at having to ask that one) Thanks and please keep your fingers crossed for me!
