Yes, clairdo2, it's easy to patch 'tufa. Just hydrate well and apply new 'tufa over the old. If you want to be careful you can use a concrete bonding adhesive, then the 'tufa. It's also important to keep the patch hydrated for a couple of days. Cover with a damp rag or piece of burlap.
