Sorry this is the first time i have ever posted pictures.yes the sphere is covered with flat marbels about 18 pounds of them

These look great! I love your leaves; on my latest sphere I used hosta leaves and they seem easier to make "perfect" than other leaves I have tried. What do you like best?
I'm so glad you mentioned that it took 18 pounds of the glass things to cover a 16 inch sphere. That is a lot of marbles! The look is worth it though.
How did you get them on the sphere? concrete? silicone?
I would love to see your leaf sphere when you finish it. Will you color it or leave it plain?

I am planning on painting the leaf sphere. the marbles are put on with silicone and it is worth doing because it is beautiful when the sun shines on it. About twenty dollars in marbels on it.Here is one sphere made with ceramic tile the it is grouted

Wow. I LOVE the marble sphere! It looks like a ball of water! Thanks so much for posting the picture. I can't wait to see what your leaf sphere looks like after you've painted it.

RCP- What did you use for a mold for your sphere?

That is so beautiful. Had a busy summer, and didn't have a lot of time to hypertufa. That blue marble is my inspiration. I have made the sphere but have one question. I used ge silicone 11 on my sphere with pennies and over last winter some fell off. I had waterproofed it also. Not sure where I went wrong. Just wondering about the marbles after I silicone. Thanks for the inspiration to get started with the marbles. Hallngarden

Hallngarden, what do you mean you waterproofed the sphere? Did you put something on over the silicone and pennies? Was the sphere concrete or tufa?
Thanks for the info. I was planning to use silicone to adhere glass to a concrete sphere and would sure like to know if this isn't going to work.

Laura, my sphere is tufa, and after adhering the pennies with the silicone, I sealed with polyurethane. You will notice most of the posting have great success with the silicone. Not sure what I did wrong. Hallngarden

ICGardener I used a big ball from wall Mart you get two for five dollars. when using the quick wall leave a round space where you inflate the ball about four inches or so, when it is dry deflate the ball and you can use it again.
