I am new to this forum but have been looking for a while. I love your columns and bowls. I did try this with the bowls 2 yrs ago but I had a hard time seperating the bowls from the concrete. What did you use for the release? How do you get the bowls even on the inside? Mine ended up being to heavy because I was worried it would be to thin. Thanks for any help.

I didn't use any release. I sacraficed the bowls by cutting a slit down one side and most of the way across the bottom with a skilsaw with a fine blade. The bowls were cheapies...89 and 99 cents. The fluted planter came from Walmart and was about 4 bucks. If you slit the bowls and tape them together again, pull of the tape when the cement has set and gently pry apart at the slit and they'll come out quite easily. Do tape the inside too so the cement doesn't run into the saw slit. I used quikwall so the bowls were only about 1/2" thick at the thickest. I first put on a thin layer, then a layer of drywall tape, then another thin layer. Pretty light in my opinion. For the bases, I don't slit the mold but line them with plastic wrap. Then I just turn them upside down when set and they slide out. I like the character lines the plastic leaves. How thick were your planters?

My bowl was about 1 inch thick at the bottom and the sides weren't even at all. What is a quikwall?

fleur, Great job! and they look great unpainted! good thinking with all the pics. and instructions, (I very rarely think to do this). If you decide to give the pieces some color you could try a very light acrylic wash in a pale sage green for a light mossy tone, start with one of the smaller bases and see what you think. Wendy
