Ok, how did you get the hole in the hoe. Can you tell I'm green about this kind of thing having been raised in the city.

I used an angle grinder to cut the hole.
Similar to the one in the link.
In the US you can find these for $15-$20. They take all sorts of grinding and brushing tools. Very handy for cutting grinding or brushing concrete and tufa as well as steel. Great for cutting wire mesh, rebar, etc.

Very common item in most handyman's and woman's tool box and one every serious Tufateer should consider getting.
If you only use it for cutting steel mesh it's worth the investment.

Have you seen the grinder girl on David Letterman?
It even has entertainment potential.:)
