admixes-the cure??

I've been using AMA-acrylic mortar admix for a while now.I was putting small amounts in with water in my hypertufa recipes and when I started out in face molds. Now,I use 100%admix for ,if you will, finer art pieces, being fountains, fossil frames and balls.I recently contacted the good people at Custom Building Products, the makers of the admix I use(available at HD)about curing times. They replied that for those things that will be holding water,a cure period of 14 days is recommended. That was a standard response for those who are grouting tiles for the bathroom or pool.I'm wondering what the Forum members who are in for the whole shot are doing-3 days?aweek?Or,are you following as if it was only water?

BTW,I'm very aware of what many say here about how dry they like their mixes.Well, using an acrylic poymer like AMA,my mixes for masks, etc is wetter, more like a clay. And,the pieces are still intact, waterproof(in the case of earlier bowls)these last couple of years. Not being of any scientific bent,I can't speak to the issue of hydration and slow or fast sets.Just knows that it works for me!!

Cheers from here
