I have not - but it is worth trying then you can let us all know how it went.
Live plants - I have used a Fiddle Leaf Fig. It can be purchased in most large Greenhouses or even in the big box stores. The leaf is very firm and had great veins -
BTW it is very easy to grow as a house plant
Also go to the grocery store - there are some great leafy greens.

pcbutt---Did you ever try the silk leaves?

A really nice plant for leaf work is Bear's Breech, Acanthus mollis. It's a classic design for leaves found in stone and similar types of art. It's easily found in nurseries and will fill any well watered area it's planted in. The thick stem and veins are perfect for this.
