OK so I am dense... I found it finally as soon as I posted this. If I have a mortar mix leaf elephant ear, already made, what do I coat it with to keep the silicone from sticking to the concrete?

Murphy's soap works well. Brush it on generously; then use paper towels to soak up any excess that pools in the veins, etc. Then apply several thin layers of silicone caulk to the leaf.

So I still haven't done any silicone molding of my leaf casting yet....scared... but here is the leaf and a sphere from like a dodge ball and mushrooms made with walmart bag and solo cup.

OK last night and today I put the silicone on my concrete elephant ear. I first coated it with vasoline since I didn't have any Murphys oil soap. I used a q-tip to get in the veins and as you guys all said I rechecked for any globs. I could see little lines from my paintbrush so I took a soft cloth and wiped over it to smooth out the vasoline. I tinted the white caulk with red and what a wonderful idea. It made it soooo easy to see where you missed. And then the 2nd coat I left white and again you could see the pink underneath to know how thick the 2nd coat is. I also did a bead around the outside for strength. I guess reading all your topics really helped. I am waiting for it to dry completely but I did sorta roll the edge and it was releasing!!!Thank you all so much and especially you Marley for the tutorial with pictures!!
