Way off topic ---- blind dates !

16 years ago

As long as we have a chit - chat side ..... I thought I'd ask !

I have a single son ... 34 ... my friend (that I haven't seen for years ) ,has a single daughter 33 . We both got together last week to visit ... we chatted about us ... and our family & kids . ******Suddenly ***** A spark went off in both of our heads at the same time because we both have a single kid -- we gave each other THAT LOOK ... heheheh ....should we ??? hehehe ... Well - we did.(gulp) We sent them pictures of each other .......It's a go as soon as my son makes a date.

Way back when - did you ever go on a blind date ?

( Heck - I was lucky to even go out on any date )

Any good stories to share ? Anyone want to take a trip down memory lane ??? LOL

I met my first and only serious boyfriend ...asked him out ... after a couple years I asked HIM to marry me ...LOL

~~~~ We've been together for 37 years now !! ~~~
    I never went on a blind date, but I think it is a great way for your son to meet a gal! My DH set up a girl he knew with a guy he was friends with as he thought they had so much in common. Guess they did as they have been married over 40 yrs now & have 4 daughters!!Best of luck to your son on his date!! Jan
    I fixed my sister up on a blind date with a guy from another town.He didnt want to get serious neither did she.Well,,,they married and had two kids but there was turmoil from the start.After about 20 years of marriage it ended in a horrible divorce. She was tired of supporting him and didnt care to support his laziness for the rest of her life.She gave him the 5 bedroom house and many other things and she moved into a tiny rental.SHE owns a biz and when they went to court the judge made her pay 1500 a month alimony to HIM!!!!!
    She was diagnosed with MS and is trying to get the alimony reduced but the lawyer says he(lawyer) has MS too and its no big deal! Oh the lawyer is a relative to EX husband.
    She is going back to court soon pray that an honest judge will help her out.
    Thats my story,I guess it could have had a happier ending,Im sure some do. I just pray my sister get some happiness and health back in her life.
    I had one blind date that started a good time for me.
    My future sister-in-law arranged it-LOL-altho I was engaged to her brother, but Bill was off in the Navy, and she needed someone to go out with her and her friend. I went and had a good time. Dated the naval avation cadet for about 6 months. He knew I was engaged to Bill. Complicated--yes.
    Boy graduated and left, when he found out I wouldn't break the engagement. Never heard from the boy again. Fun while it lasted.
    Bill was not happy when he found out. We finally straightened it out and Bill and I were married for 50 years and 8 months when he died.
    My parents met on Friday, January 13th, on a blind date. They married 6 weeks later and were married 26 years when Dad died. Mom died 8 years after that on Friday, January 13th. I know they are still together. :o)
    I, on the other hand, had been on too many blind dates. No fun! LOL One lady told me I must call her Miss Smith (Not her real last name) the whole night. Kinda weird. Funny thing is...she liked me but I was very intimidated by her! LOL
    I was set up on a blind date once... but I forced the "setter-upper" to go with. Then we couldn't get rid of the setter-upper for weeks.
    We've been married almost 11 years and have a one year old daughter.
    We started comparing notes and we were thisclose to each other a number of times before we met--- so it was only a matter of time.
    I went on a blind date once ... and it was with a blind guy! he-he He was the roommate of a friend. When I called his apartment, I usually got the roommate on the phone. We ended up talking and set up a date. I never knew he was blind. We didn't hit it off but it makes a good story.
    Bob and I were kind of a blind date. We met in a chat room on the internet and decided to meet in "real life." I picked him up to take him to see a movie on January 1, 2005 and we have been together ever since. We got married on Valentines Day.
    I just want to say, Toomuch, that any Guy who is sweet enough to teach his Momma to weld, has got to be a great catch! If I had a single daughter of the proper age, I'd send you a pic!
