Tickletank

Cait - I thank you for that video. At the end she says that she's had a lot of loss in her life and the garden is a constant reminder that life goes on no matter what else is happening. I just came to the website to try to start getting into some normalcy. I've just been looking at everything in the house, out the window, and thinking - none of our "stuff" really matters - it's the people in it that make it a life. But her comment about the garden struck me - and helped me - at least for this moment. I love gardening - I got that love from my parents, especially my dad who has a large vegetable garden every year and flowers all over. Why this video is important right now is that just yesterday morning my dad died. The empty feeling is incredible. I was with him telling him what a great dad he was and that we loved him. Well, it's getting very hard to see what I'm writing now so I better stop. I will get my life back in order but I wanted to say that I really thank you for that video. Colleen

Oh, Colleen...I'm so sorry about your Dad! Reading your post made me cry...remembering how I felt when my Dad died. I was devastated, and I know you are too at this time!

My parents and brother all died within a short period of time, leaving me the only older person in my family left. I have incorporated many of what I knew to be "their favorite things" in my home, and it's almost like they live here. It's very comforting! My home is filled with lovely memories!

You could create a lovely little garden in memory of your father, which could be of great comfort to you...and would surely make him smile from above.

God bless you during this very difficult time in your life.

Colleen, I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad. You're right when you say the 'stuff' doesn't matter, it's the people in your life that makes it what it is.
And your welcome. But let's give the credit to God, Who is, I'm certain, taking care of you in His most loving way. He prompted me to post the video then prompted you to go to the GJ forum and open thread. He knew what you needed and I feel blessed to be able to watch Him work in your life. You needed comforting and He comforted you.
May you continue to feel His love during this difficult time. God Bless You and your family, with love, Cait

Colleen, I am so sorry to hear about your precious dad. It sounds like he was quite a wonderful father and he must have inspired you very much. We are all thinking of you and praying for God to help you thru all of this. Please come back time to time so we can give you lots of "word hugs"!
Take care of yourself and let us know how you are doing. This is a wonderful caring group of people who can help take your mind off of anything and give comfort when needed. And, not to mention, they are always here for you.

    Hi Colleen~

I too am so sorry about your Dad's passing. I lost my Daddy about five years ago, so I can relate to the empty feelings you are having right now. I will be thinking of you in the days and weeks to come. I'm sure that your Dad is being welcomed by God and His angels and that all of his ills are gone. Take as long as you need--remember, laugh, cry and know that you have friend in the garden.

Blessings to you and your family,
    Marlene

Colleen, I am so sorry about your Dad and know your pain is heart-wrenching. It is wonderful you found the video just when needed most. I bet that lady has inspired many that she will never know about, with her beautiful words and gardens.
I hope maybe you can make a Memory Garden for your Dad, I think it will help you feel he's close by. You are lucky to have had him teach you the love of gardening, as it will be something you will share forever.

    hugs, Karen

Awwww, Colleen! I really feel for you! I think it would be a wonderful tribute to include your dad in your garden - not only because he loved gardening but because a garden is a healing place ... a place for contemplation, soul searching and seeking resolutions. I agree, the Tickletank video was incredibly inspiring and lovely. I know how much the Junkers here have helped me in the past few months, I'm sure together we can help ease your pain. My heart goes out to you and your family.

Colleen - Dad's are just the most wonderful blessings in the whole, wide world! Your words brought me tears and also a smile...when you said that you had just been with your Dad sharing your love...a blessing for you both from God.

May you find peace in the good memories and may the memories make you smile especially when you are in your gardens. Jeanne S.

Colleen, I got teary-eyed reading your post. I too lost my Dad... when I was in my 20's. He taught me so much about gardening and a love for "treasures". He was a junker from the get-go. I will be praying for you during this difficult time. Know that things will get better and wonderful memories will overpower the grief. God bless you. I'm glad you're a part of the forum. Kirk
