My Garden Turtle

Hi everyone! I just wanted to show and tell a cool yard art find! Last week, I purchased this hand-made, life-sized, metal turtle from shopgoodwill.com at a great price. (If you haven't been to the site, it's a great place to find treasures!)

The turtle has intricate designs...just beautiful. (The designs are of Neptune and sea critters.) We have wetlands and a pond on our property, and the turtles are always laying their eggs in our yard in the spring. (Too cool!) So, I thought this turtle would be the perfect addition to my gardens! Isn't he cool yard art?! I can't wait to put my turtle out in the yard this spring! I hope the real turtles don't mistake him for their kinfolk! LOL! ENJOY! Bear Hugs! Kirk

    WOW...he's awesome!

    How big exactly is "life-size"?

Yesterday, I got the bell/windchime I bought on Shopgoodwill.com. I am more than pleased...it's awesome and has a lovely ring! I'll take a picture and post it. Not now...it's 2 AM!

That is a pretty incredible turtle you found, kirk. I didn't even see him listed. I'm soooo glad you got him, perfect for your garden.
Congrats to you too, Sandy. I love windchimes and feel that one can never have too many, LOL

    hugs, Karen

Sandy, 10 inches from head to tail...the size of the turtles I always find in our yard. I know because I often have to pick them up and move them when I need to mow! Can't wait to see your windchime! Karen, thanks for telling me about a great site! Bear Hugs! Kirk I JUST LOVE MY TURTLE!

Ohhh Yeah!!! That's an awsome find. Such great detail. Hurray for you Kirk.

That's just gorgeous, Kirk. Wonder if there's anyway to find out how old it is, it looks valuable!!

That is a great find! Unfortunately everything I have bid on there (except some books) has too high of a prize tag (with the shipping charges) for my little purse strings. I will have to remain deligent!

    Wonderful turtle!!!

    Great find! I LOVE it!

That's a great looking turtle you got won on goodwill! I love the detail, and I think he will go just perfectly with your other yard decor! I checked out shopgoodwill, but I just don't have the patience to go through so many pages of stuff! Now if you could search for a particular item on there, it would be great! Glad you found somewhere to find some goodies until the yard sales start up again!

I forgot to mention that even the underside of my turtle is complete and looks like a real turtle. And it's engraved with detail as well. I'll have to take a picture. Thanks for the nice compliments. Yes, Countrygrl, I am going through garage sale withdrawals. :oO We did discover a hidden away junk shop in the small town near us. It is sooo cool and the prices are garage sale prices. Oh, there is a SEARCH on the top of the goodwill page. I always check for grizzly bears! LOL A great site but, like Luna said, you have to watch the shipping charges to make sure you're getting a good deal in the end. Bear Hugs, Kirk

Did they send you a shopgoodwill.com tote bag with your purchase?

I can't imagine they send tote bags with every purchase, but I picked mine up and got one. As DH always says, "Such a deal!"

I can hardly wait to see the detail under your turtle. It is a really neat piece!

Love the turtle, Kirk! I think it will find a happy home with you and Carol and family. We go to Longville, MN. every fall...but in the summer they have "turtle races"
for the kids in the middle of the street and it's a big hit!!! So, turtles make me smile! Jeanne S.

Country, you can narrow your search way down to just what you are interested in....after you click "listings", all the different categories come up. And some of them have different categories as well. Collectibles has a lot of categories under it. Also, once you go thru a list, then if you look the next night, just go to the last page or click on "newly listed". It really doesn't take long to scan thru and you only need open the things that appeal to you anyway since they show the little photos first.

Wow that is cool. I have never bought anything from there but I am going to have to keep looking(-: Great find!!!

As promised, here's a picture of my turtle's underside. The artist really paid attention to detail. It's hard to see because of the shine but there is a picture of Neptune engraved in it. Too cool! Kirk

Wow that's some turtle Kirk. I'll bet it's a heavy one too! I've never seen anything like it! Maybe you can go on Antiques Roadshow to see if you're a millionaire!
Would be cool to display it with some of those stone eggs ! ( I just got a basketful for a buck!)
...I think your bears might get jealous though !!

How do you post an image in a message?

I have 15+ turtles in mt turtle garden and would love to post them here without creating a web page somewhere.

I am with you man - turtles are so cool.

Big_deck, after seeing your turtle garden, I immediately knew why this older post popped to the top! I know you are coveting Kirk's turtle! he-he I think it would make a great addition to your turtle garden too (or mine too for that matter!).

If I bring one more turtle into the garden, my wife says she will kick me out.

There is one I discovered while searching the web that needs a crane to deliver it - weighs like 1,400 pounds and the shipping alone would have been several thousand dollars.

Hand tight, I will see if I can find the link:

    I bought the small one!

    Meanwhile, can this be real??

Finally, our FAVORITE turtle (well, at least Oscar's and mine) is here. Walking, singing turtle.

What a neat looking turtle, I just love turtles. He looks pretty heavy.

    Kirk,

Do you know how much your turtle weighs? His brother might end up being a good companion here!

I'm not sure that "Tuck" hasn't shown some kind of romantic overtures.

AND, turtle soup is still one of favorite 'exotic' foods - along with escargot!!
