black currants

I am wanting to plant a faily large area 1 -2 acres with Ben Lomand and a french variety black currant for a commercial cassis operation. Being in a 6b climate zone, will they likely thrive? Cool enough for decent yields? I will have a drip irrigation system in place as well for the currants. Birds going to be a problem? I already have 5 acres of trellised kiowa and thornless variety blackberries and the birds do get their fair share but not a problem thus far.
