I don't know much, but if I were you I would call your DSL provider, mine is Verizon and they help you fix internet service.
We bought our computer at Costco and they have a service called Cocierge and they help you with large electronics like computer and TV. This last time she told me that having too many programs starting up at the same time as you log on causes a slowdown.
Of course the easiest solution is to turn your computer and DSL box off, my DSL box has a swith on the back; for about 10 minutes and a lot of the problems fix themselves
Another tip my son taught me he is computer software business; Do Not Click on Icon for Internet Explorer more than once because you confuse it; he says HI-Lite
icon than hit enter on the keyboard! This was a hard one for me to learn because I am very impatient, LOL

Thanks for the help,I'll see what I can find out! I too am impatient, I've been mending, reading the paper, going through magazines, polishing the hutch, etc waiting for the next thing to come up. I just go to MSN for my mail & then to GJ to see all the great ideas & connect with garden friends but sometimes MSn comes up twice as I got impatient waiting!! Having company from Tenn. before long so sense it's rainy am baking today. Oatmeal cake,lemon tarts(some pecan too) & 22 min. choc cake, cr cheese brownies if I have time, so I have some goodies in freezer. Jan

Sylvia, it does help a lot to "enter." Microsoft came on this morning to say they were working on computer problem. Hope it helps. Msmitoagain- will try getting on your blog. My favorite are the lemon tarts, but I often use a pie pan & just go about 1/2 in. up the sides & then put the lemon about 1/2 -3/4 in thick & so end up with about 4 large tarts, I'm crazy about the lemon, friends love the cr. cheese-butter-flour crust!! They freeze great!! I wrote the rest of ideas Sylvia so if not straightened out yet will give dsl call. Thanks for your help1 Oh, what is a good "Ad blocker" as I see a lot of ads coming up even tho I have an ad blocker with windows not helping much. Jan
