Philodendron spots on leaves

Hello, my dad gave me this philodendron. It was on his deck in a shady spot this summer and spring. The leaves are turning yellow and getting brown spots. I'm wondering if it could be sun burnt? The plant was a little dry but not too bad so I don't think that is it. This plant belonged to my Grandmother who passed away 16 years ago and I would like to try and help it. SO where do I start?

It's Pothos (Epipremnum,) botanically. I would take some cuttings of the best-looking tips as insurance, to start another copy of it.

Has it been in the same soil for a while? Does the pot have an attached drain saucer?

Not sure when it was repotted last but it does have good drainage holes and does not sit on a saucer

I also notices a daddy long leg living in it. Yikes! So now I have visions of all sorts of spiders living in it lol! Can I spray it with dawn dish soap and water?

Well, the daddy long legs will help keep bad bugs away, but if it bothers you a simple spray with water would be fine.

As for the yellow leaves, start with the soil. Generic potting mix is usually too heavy and it would work better if you mixed perlite and potting soil at a 50/50 ratio.
