Vanishing Blueberries

We covered our three blueberry bushes with bird netting, draping it over a wire and pole structure and fixing it to the ground with garden staples. We got most of the berries off with no problem, then when I went out for the final harvest, there was not a berry to be seen. There are no holes in the netting, no holes or gaps at ground level, and no berries left at all, not even shriveled ones. We do have young children next door, but all the staples seemed to be in exactly the same place as I'd left them, and I doubt that they would be so blatant as to take every berry in sight. Any ideas? We don't have raccoons or squirrels in the neighborhood (shhh! Don't let them know.). The wasps and hornets are chomping on our netted plums, but they make holes rather than eating the entire fruit (and any ideas on stopping them from doing that? Maybe doubling the netting?).
