They are sooo sweet... What kind of sun they get will deturment(sp) what to put in them...

I think petunias or something that will drape down over the sides. Lobelia is kind of old fashioned and comes in petty blues that would be nice. There are some that don't grow over the sides tho, and different ones for sun and shade. Just make sure you get the little trailing one, not the tall spiky kind. I looked for a pic but didn't find one.
I did a search on container garden and look what I found instead, lol.

thanks everyone. I'll look tomorrow. I love Lobelia but I have terrible luck with it. Maybe in a pot it will work. It is pretty warm on the deck. NW. If I keep it close to the house should do ok. I can't wait to get them planted.

Sorie, Those are neat lil' planters. Will you be weatering everyday or have a drip irrigation to them? I live in the desert (SW California). All my experience with smaller pots like yours does not go well unless of course I have them on a reliable battery operated irrigated drip system. Since it gets late afternoon sun and is hot maybe some heat tolerable plants may be the need. I've ordered from this place before and have always had good results. Check it out and see. At first I was thinking of campanula but that may not work for the area.....Take a looksie! Even if you cannot order from them it may give you some good ideas.

sorie ... I like your wicker "containers!" I can see a nice "Boston Fern" in the larger pot & I also love the lobelia idea (trailing) in the smaller pot...if you are sitting them together...I see you already have a red geranium...so green ferns & vines could look pretty nice! Have fun! Jeanne S.

I love hens and chicks for wicker plantstands like that. They don't have to be watered much, and can stay out in winter (if you have the hardy type). Since you'll have it on a covered porch, no telling how long it would last.

If you plant summer annuals, or flowering plants, I suggest plastic containers, as they won't dry out as quickly, and are lighter too.
