Old High Chair...

Hi Everyone! Check out the old high chair I scored at a barn sale tonight for $5! I've got some stickers to scrape off and some joints to tighten, then I'll paint it- not sure what color yet, but I'm thinking something with a crackle finish. I think I'll just set a planted pot on the seat, rather than cut a hole, then plant something climby at it's feet. I'll post more pics as this project progresses! Kathy

Ohhhh, nice chair for the garden. An ivy or other climbing plant would be fantastic going up the legs. Nice score!

Hey Tas, That's an awsome chair... I'm surprised your not going to mosaic it... please keep us updated on your project.

Got any toddlers around? Those wooden high chairs make great toddler chairs to set at the table and eat, color, paint, draw, work puzzles, etc. You can even take off one arm for the child's easy access. My daughter used hers for a long time.

    Great find and price,I'm jealous!

I have one very similar to that; it still has the flip down tray on it. My DH doesn't understand why I am still hanging on to it (we are a long way off from grandchildren), but I just know I am going to find the perfect thing/spot for it. Tasymo, maybe someone will post pics of what they did with theirs.

TASY: I mentioned your posting today to ROSEMARYTHYME, while we were at a flea mkt looking at a similar high chair, and she immediately said "blue", to which I replied "yep - the TASY blue"!

That's cute Tasymo! can't wait to see what you do. but but... wouldn't that be BM? LOL

My neighbor threw out a potty chair and I bet that would have been GREAT! I love your hi chair

I still have to finish the other chair I am mosaicing! Do you have any idea how long it takes to cover an entire chair? Sheesh! Nope. This one is just getting painted and plopped in the garden with a pot of something on the seat. I'm taking a bit of a hiatus from mosaicing- my garden really needs my attention right now. Kathy

Tasymo, I thought the same thing as Slowmedown--some more of that great blue paint! I love those wooden highchairs. Sure wish I could have found one for my GD instead of the metal/plastic thing I ended up buying. Luvs

O.K. folks, I have to agree. Tasy blue works on this old high chair! I'll post another pic once I get it settled in it's spot with a planter of flowers in the seat! Kathy

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah - you can't beat the TASYblue. LOVE it. BTW I noticed this appears like spray paint. What's the name of this color, and is it spray??? I LOVE blue, and this is pretty close to the color I use, but a tad lighter.

Love it in the blue! My grandmother had a dinette table like the one in the background,it had a red and white top,and shiny red seats and backs on the chairs:) That was such a long time ago......LOL

Yes Slow- I was really excited to find spray paint that is almost exactly the same shade as my bench. It's Rustoleum Painters Touch. The color is Brilliant Blue #1926. This stuff covers great- it didn't even take the whole can to cover the entire high chair! Kathy

Many thanks - wrote it down and w/get some soon. My swing needs repainting and I hadn't looked forward to brushing it on. This w/be lots easier.

Love your chair!! It looks great.

I have my Husband's father's chair from when he was a baby. I haven't painted it..wasn't sure I wanted to touch it just yet. I use it as a plant stand in my diningroom.

Oorahgirl, your Hubby's old high chair is so special, and perfect just as it is! Mine didn't have the tray, or footrest when I found it, and is kind of shaky, so in the garden it goes. Had it been intact and sturdier, I probably would have stored it away to use for future Grandchildren. Kathy

Oh thanks Tasymo...it's my father-in-law's chair from when he was a kid. Have no idea exactly how old it is. And in the picture you can't see it but it's been repaired at least twice. The plants are blocking the repair.

I use to have the plants on the actual tray and not on the seat but changed it up. I like having the plants grow over the chair. And it's a great conversation piece when people come to dinner.

Yours will look wonderful in the garden. I'm still looking for a great chair to put out there for plants.

Here it is, with an old bean pot planted with yellow million bells and fuschia verbena. Hopefully the flowers will fill out and spill over. I'll take another pic later in the Season. Kathy
