They used re-bar, and a telephone pole, or electric
pole to bend it around, if I remember right.

Anything you can bend easily will probably not hold much weight. Rebar would need to be heated (probably with blow torch) in order to bend it.

Nope, these girls did not heat the re-bar....

I believe it was Wylee (sp?) who bent the rebar around the ball hitch on a pickup truck. There was no heat involved when she bent them.

I made one using pvc pipe! I don't have a picture right now. I was in the aisle looking around while DH picked up what he needed and got creative. I used a plumber's trap (the bent piece used under the sink), some straight pieces, connectors and an end cap to plug it off! I sprayed it all black and voila'.

Have you checked the dollar stores? Dollar General and Big Lots usually have the larger hooks for $5 :)
