Thrift store find - Bee skeep

I found this terra cotta bee skeep at GW for $3.00 a few weeks ago. I love it! I like the way it looks partially hidden in the garden. I set it on a few bricks so it won't freeze to the ground, but am wondering if I should take it in for the winter. I like that it adds color to the beds, although amazingly I still have things blooming even after several frosts. I even have black eyed susans reblooming and looking better than they did in the summer! It's been a weird fall, but we are expecting the first snowflakes today.

That is a really cool skep! I've never seen one made of terra cotta, only woven ones. That looks amazing in your garden. I don't know, I think I would bring that in. It would be such a shame if it cracked! I know what you mean about the crazy fall. We are finally going to get a hard freeze Wed. night. I'm kinda glad, because I'm getting tired of watering! I also have B.E. Susans that are blooming still, and the Corydalis is still blooming it's heart out!

Wow, what a fantastic find, I love it. I agree, I'd bring it in for the winter just in case. You'd hate to find this cracked come spring time.

Terra cotta doesn't hold up very well in our Midwest winters. I'd bring it in too for the winter just to play it safe. It is a very cool find!

If there is any chance that you have freezing weather then I would make sure it is dry and out of it during the winter. If it is wet and you place in an unheated building and it freezes it will still compromise the pot. Very cool pot by the way...

I can never leave anything like that out in the elements just for that reason.
