The Dollar Store. My Dollar store only has green, blue and clear (maybe also white) so if you need one of those colors give it a try. Some dollar stores might carry other colors. I also saw them in Michaels and Hobby Lobby but they are about 4 times as much for a bag.

I see you are in NC too? I am in Charlotte, where are you?

Every craft supply store I have been in has them, usually near the artificial flowers.

I've also found them in thrift stores and close out stores like Big Lots.

Wal-mart is a good source. Dollar tree has a small selection. If your are looking for special shapes or colors google and you will find some selections too.

I get them at yard sales people are always buying crafts and never get around to using them. AHEM! cept us of course LOL

I got some great star shaped blue ones at the dollar store. However the yellow ones from the mixed bags are so pale that they hardly have any color. I'd be willing to pay more for some with stronger color. Also got some cool cat eye long (not round) ones at the dollar store in mixed colors. I'm considering buying some from an internet site that are bright and dark. I'll let you all know how they turn out if I do.

Thanks, everyone! Glad to hear there are several places I can go besides the craft stores, which can be expensive.
    Mindy, I'm in Hickory. We're neighbors! :)

    Rose,

I had a great experience in the stained glass area of Hobby Lobby. There were some expensive packs but when I squatted down to view lower shelves I found cheaper prices made by another company. More variety than Walmart or dollar store.

    Susie,
That's good to know, since there's a Hobby Lobby near me.
    Thanks!

I also buy them at yard sales, people make silk flower arangements filled with flat marbles, then get tired of them. I buy the vase and marbles for never more than .50 cents. and they'll usually have about 3 or 4 bags of marbles in there. And at dollar stores. Sometimes at Michaels, they'll have odd pretty colors and shapes but at least you'll get a coupon for 40% off every week or two. And at Hobby Lobby, too, check their site and see if they have a coupon for that week, and print it out.

Today I went to a little stained glass store in my old home town with my mom. There were little glass tiles for sale: 15 tiles for $1. That may be a lot if you want to cover something, but I was thinking more for accents for things made out of glass plates etc. They were not clear (they are opaque.) I got 10 red and 5 orange, two colors that it is hard to find in the flat marbles. I'm looking forward to playingwith them. If I snip off the corners the will be almost round, for example.

    Thanks, y'all!
I'm going to put them on clay pots like a mosaic, for gifts. Add a small bag of potting soil, some seeds - Voila! Garden-in-a-pot!

I get mine at Walmart or Dollar Tree, but if I need fancy ones I go online. There are many vendors. Here is one.

I also buy them at yard sales, like Kudzu said, for almost nothing. One other place I buy them sometimes is Big Lots. I love that store.

Mindy, one of my best friends here in Chattanooga is originally from Mathews. I've been over there visiting his family, and attended a wedding at the AmTrak station, yes that's right, the Charlotte AmTrak station. Wouldn't have been my choice, but that's where my friend's daughter got married about 5 years ago. He & my hubby performed the music at the wedding.

Love NC! It's one of my favorite states. The mountains are some special kind of beautiful in the western part (near east TN), but my other favorite is Topsail Island, NC. Such a neat place. History of the first rocket launch, pirates, shipwrecks, so much more. But it's a 10 hour drive from here, hope to take the grandsons in a couple of years. ~tenderlee

An AmTrak wedding, oh yuck! That sure doesn't sound white or romantic or anything else good. You are right though, NC is a beautiful state and Charlotte is not a bad place. It is has grown tremendously in the last 10 years or so. But, to be honest, I am still mostly a Yankee at heart. I have lived up north and just perfer the whole enviroment(people, weather, etc) better.

Rosebush, we are neighbors!!! How nice. Well if you ever come down this way or I come up that way we should try to get together for lunch or something. Meeting a fellow junker would be nice. I have totally fallen in love with my new garden and I am still learning so much. I have a tiny green thumb for house plants and I am trying to do the same outside now. I am almost 50 so its about time I learned my about gardens. LOL
Have a holly jolly holiday everyone.

Okay, so I visited Hobby Lobby over the weekend and bought more supplies. Finished two pots - the first one is just so-so buyt the second one is nice. Have a third nearly done, just need to do a border at the top. . .

Adina, great link for supplies, thanks!

Mindy, we are close in age, and I am a "transplant" to NC as well, from FL. Been here 6 years and love it! The people in Hickory are so friendly! I especially like having all 4 seasons here, and love the snow when we get it. The gardening is the best - I can actually grow irises - and I spend most of my free time building up the garden and creating new beds.
Anyway, I always have extra plants/seeds and am happy to share with another GW-er. Maybe we can get together in the spring.
Thanks, everyone for all the tips and info.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!
    Rosemary
