Sounds like the Toro with the Suzuki 2 cycle engine. It's one of the best and most sought after mowers around. Your uncle was a wise man. New in the box that mower might bring a ton on Ebay.

What do you mean by "hokey two cycle engine"?

If it has a Suzuki on it it has one of the best two cycle engines ever mass produced.

I doubt it has a five speed, probably a three speed.

What is the model #? Can't be sure with Toro's from the eighties what they may be worth.

That would bring some coin. They ran about 500 bucks new if I remember right. I have a friend who still runs his 86' 2 stroke suzuki. We have had to replace some wheels due to wearing. Great unit. Love the cast aluminum deck. Cast decks are the best.

Before you get too excited, you need to determine whether it's a commercial or consumer mower. Both used variations of the Suzuki 2 stroke.

The commercial version is the Promaster and has steel wheels with ball bearings, a much heavier black-painted handle, and heavier duty accessories all around (throttle cables, drive cables, etc.)

The consumer version uses plastic wheels with buskings on the axle stubs, lighter chromed handles, etc.

If its a Promaster it should sell well. Frankly, I think the consumer version is only worth a fraction.

However, either way, the Suzuki is one of the best 2 stroke engines around, in the same class as the Subaru Robin IMHO.
