People do sell these things, so there are people who like them. Saw some the other day, in fact. And if you have enough spikes flowering en masse, it might just look like a hawaiian sunset, and we all know hawaiian sunsets are gorgeous.

lady, well, it's very easy, considering that one can grow oncidium intergeneric hybrids...like oncidium sharry baby, oncidium twinkle, colmanaras (sp?), miltoniopsis aka pansy orchids, burreagas...etc. don't need too much light, around phal maybe higher would get more spikes, lots of water but can dry out quite a bit without problems (but be careful, too little water = the dreaded accordion leaves syndrome), and high humidity isn't needed, like, at all.

Hawaiian sunset is a hybrid of two shots Miltonia warscewiczii and one shot oncidium cheiropherum; the miltonia w is a strong bloomer, the cheiro is a miniature and reduces the size. It's an improved hybrid from Miltonidium Pupukea sunset, which is just one shot of each above mentioned species. It was quite a well known hybrid because it blooms all the time with neglect, much like sharry baby, however these flowers have rich tones of yellows, oranges, reds, browns...and yes, as komi mentions, when mult-spiked, it can be quite gorgeous. I just don't have the space to cultivate it to that size.

If LadyBuggyz has no interest, I'm sure Mom would like it, but I have very little to trade. About all I have is some seedlings clumps of Bifrenaria harrisoniae 'Imposter' x 'Majus', a nice size, but probably not even NBS. I could send a pic. I could also throw in a clump of 2-3 very small seedlings of Cattleya aurantiaca 'Jean' AM/AOS x 'Plov'.

Hi bada... I'm a newbie, and I have to admid I don't really have much luck with my 1 oncidium that I have, it is healthy but refuse to bloom again. But if yours is an easy grower, and if Carolyn changes her mind, I would love to "adopt" it.
Now, I really don't have much to trade, but here's something! When I had question about how to grow CISCHWEINFIA dasyandra, you were "making fun" of me, because I was a newbie and try to take on something difficult to grow! But guess what? I got it to bloom, and it's still doing very well! Cut to the chase, I don't have much that is precious to offer you, but I have the CISCHWEINFIA dasyandra if you are interested! lol...
