And this one has two spikes!

They look very nice Lynn, I was in Home Depot a bit earlier today too to get an octopus lamp. Saw some nice phals but didn't want to take them home in this cold weather. Couple of weeks before Christmas, I got one with a root coming. It wasn't a very cold day. But of course (snow and cold). It was in my car and I quickly brought it home may 5 min. drive but it seems to get shocked or something. The root doesn't grow since I brought it home...Enjoy your new phals.

One thing I've learned with my new orchid hobby is patience, Tanie. Give it good care, and just wait.

I can just see Nick and Jane nodding and thinking "uh huh, I told her. It's addicting." I don't think I'm that bad yet, but then again, I did just triple the population. :)

Remember Lynn, you can always stop. That however, will probably never happen. You are smart to buy plants with unopened buds, you'll enjoy them for the full length of their bloom. If you buy a plant that is fully open, you have no way of knowing how long they have been open and maybe next week the blooms will start falling off.

:) That's encouraging. I, um, didn't realize that when I chose it. I was looking more at roots, and sniffing to see if there was any musty odor from being too wet.

Is there any rule of thumb to tell me when, if the blooms and buds don't fall off from the changes, that they aren't going to?

I've got to find better pots. They are in metal tins. That can't be good.
