Save My Coconut Orchid!

I bought a beautiful coconut orchid last year when I was on vacation in Florida and brought it back to Idaho with me. It was fine during the summer months, but during this past winter, even though I kept it well lit and watered, the nodes began to prune and turn brown and most of the leaves dried out. I have a few parts that still seem to have some life in them, but I am at a loss on how to keep those parts of the plant healthy. I feed the orchid once every two weeks and water every few days. Do I trim off the parts of the orchid that have withered? Do I need to replant? I really don't want to lose it and am trying desperately to keep her alive. Any advice would be helpful. Where are you trying to grow your "coconut orchid" and how cold did it get during winter?

In my apartment, near the window, but the indoor temperature never fell below 65. I had a thermometer above it to make sure it never got too cold.

The problem with common names is they vary from place to place. Does your orchid look like the the one pictured below? If so, it is easily grown in shade-house here. Average summer daily temperature range min 17C max 27C. Average daily winter temps 7C min 17C max.
If you confirm the id, someone is sure to give you better indoor culture advice.

This is what my orchid looked like when I first bought it in Florida. Now that I'm back in Idaho, I feel like I've kept it about the same temperature. Maybe the lack of humidity is the problem? I also need to know if trimming off the dead nodes will help or hurt the plant.
