i have lost count of the number of Pleurothallids that have died on me and we live close to the Atlantic rainforest! They are just plain ornery. I would not even consider growing them on anything other than a tree fern plaque and even then they are difficult. I think the principal problem is that they do need constant high humidity and at the same time are very prone to rotting! One I have had for years, however, is very easy. It is Acianthera (formerly Pleurothallis) sonderana. It has clouds of little yellow flowers. I have seen whole trees covered in it. Good luck - Ian.

I do really well with Pleurothallis, cool, humid air is the norm in my greenhouse. Pleurothallis loranthophylla on the other hand, has frustrate me for years. It's considered a warm grower so I had it in the warm house where it grew for years getting big but never flowered. It constantly made bracts in the new leaves but they never opened up,

Finally in frustration I moved it to the cold greenhouse for no other reason that that Pleuros usually do better cold. It's been there for over a year and has gone backwards. Obviously not happy. I'll move it back to the warm house or list it on eBay as a rare, unusual, hard to find, prized species which would make a good companion plant with your first Phaelanopsis.

I have given up on that one.

OK, thanks guys! I'm not going to fuss over it. Putting it into a tiny pot and sticking it out under a tree with some other plants. It can live or finish dying :(

I had become so excited back in the fall because I expected three spikes of blooms.

They are surviving though. See new roots, but they ain't getting any cool air anytime soon!
