You might want to wait longer. 8 feet is still pretty small for a vanilla orchid.

Thank you smwboxer, i will wait until it grows more and hopefully the temps go back to warmer, that should give the one a real growth burst. The other one, I'm not sure why it isn't growing. Will repot it with pine mulch and see.

I quit growing vanilla due to the rampant growth,Seems to be necessary never got a flower until round 10 feet of growth even then it was a shy bloomer. I found the variagated form less hardy in all respects to the green plainifolia. They are very easy to root by almost any method but if you really want flowers you'll have to allow it to run rampant . As long as it's warm and humid they are happy.. My main objection was they took up way to much space. gary

So how do people (specifically indoor growers) deal with the space requirement, and still maintain an aesthetically pleasing plant? I ordered a cutting in the fall, and now that it's warm out, I expect it to ship soon.

I have let mine grow up the wall and am now training it to grow back and forth from one corner of the room to the other. It doesn't look so bad to me this way...like a weave pattern. But it has along way to go before I see those results.

Can I ask if anyone would share about 3-4 cuttings? Thanks And God Bless
