Even when adding a tablespoon of the stuff to newly potted young annual plugs in production greenhouses, you still have to fertilize a couple times a week. Orchids aren't nearly as hungry as annuals but they still need more that osmocote can provide.

If you do use it, use it as an addition to a regular fert routine.
