That has to be devastating. A young man in our community whom I came in contact with on an almost daily basis died from that. He had some sort of respiratory infection, and came to work every day looking sicker instead of better. He just died and they found that after the fact. The family is still trying to cope with that unexpected end.

She's fortunate to have a support system of people like you. I am sure everything you do will be appreciated more than you'll know.

A friend of hers and I are collaborating on a gift of an arrangement of small houseplants potted in a windowsill-friendly oval plastic container. The plants are different shades and patterns of green, with some heart-shaped medium-sized leaves having a near-white center; a small groundcover-looking one has tiny dark green leaves with bright white veining; one has medium green large leaves with irregular small specks of pale green; and the last is simply medium green with lots of narrow long leaves whirling out from the center stalks. These should all do well in a low-light situation and I hope that having something alive and growing will be much nicer than cut flowers you have to toss out after a week. We still have houseplants repotted from an arrangement given to us by one of our favorite neighborhood friends when my mom died.
