I'm New

Hello everyone,

I love to garden. My only problem is I am always trying something new. If I see a plant I like then I've got to have it. My garden looks like a managerie. Any Help would be appreciated.

WELCOME POOCHY! Help? not sure I am the one to ask because I am very much like you, love trying different things. Through the years some have succeeded, some failed, some have become thugs and taken over! But to me that is what gardening is about, taking an adventure and creating some thing that makes YOUR heart sing.

I buy stuff, shove it in the ground and hope it grows, but my passions are Orential Lilies and Daylilies. What do you like best? What zone are you in? We have some Master Gardeners here that will be able to help you a lot more than I.

Do you have a lot of space to garden in?
    To many questions? LOL!

Hi poochy1234... welcome to the Garden Party.

Some of us have that same problem with new plants... I do okay as long as I don't have a cart. Dunno why, but plants just jump into the cart and then I have to take them home and find place for them. Sigh. The last time I ran in to the nursery to get a bag of mulch, it cost me $138 for the plants and $20 to get the neighbor boy to help put them in the ground. And I forgot to get the mulch.

Seriously, I think there are only three ways to handle the problem: 1) pre-plan and order only from catalogs; 2) or limit yourself to only one color of bloom (there is a max number of pale yellow flowers); or 3) never ever go into a nursery if you have any money or plastic in your wallet. I've tried all three methods and can tell you that #2 will help your landscape look planned, but only #3 protects the budget.

Welcome to the Garden Party, Poochie. I won't be able to offer you any help, b/c I don't love to garden!!! :>( But I do love the Garden Party and these folks are kind and polite and let me hang out, here. Also, they're really knowledgeable and someone is always willing and able to answer questions or offer suggestions.)

    Again, welcome!

Welcome poochy1234, I've got to ask(to me) the obvious question. What kind of pooch do you have?
There's also a lot of pet lovers here. Maybe i'd better add i'm the one here, who opens mouth and inserts foot.LOL
No help here for your garden.I'd love it.Mine is the exact same way and it is mine, failure or success it is my view of beauty.

Speaking of new plants and projects. I was in Wally world Saturday and they had just put some crepe myrtles on sale for $2.50. I bought 12.To give to my DD,s for their birthday. Than decided i was gong to keep one to try a bonzai tree. Know nothing about bonzai but someone on another forum was talking about one she was trying s-o-o-o as soon as i get a bonzai book-----i'll be off again. See what good company you'll be in.

Welcome Poochy. I'm a plant collector too & my garden is the horticultural equivalent of a crazy quilt. Hope you stay awhile to chat.
