Light set up?

I moved the orchids into another part of my building for the summer. I would like to take advantage of the W (slightly south) windows and space. Trying to set up a good light system. Florescents and CFL's working with the window light.

Somehow, I can do this just fine in the other section of the building but not working as successfully in this section. I grew last summer/fall in this space for a very short while and for the life of me I can't remember what I did.

2 windows, 1 window has dappled light from a large tree. I reserved that window last summer for the paphs/ lower light orchids. Window measurements are ~5' from the floor, run ~6' horizontally and 46" vertically. Combo glass block, jalousy and pane. Window sill is ~1 foot deep. I get light from about 2, 2:30 on but it stays tight to the window. How can I maximize what I have? It just doesn't seem to be producing the same effect as a similar window inside the apartment. I may be too spread out? I should have fc's galore without the windows. The Int/ High fc's are not there yet. I also have 1 rack that will receive 0 natural light.

Any suggestions? My camera is on the fritz or I would post a pic of the space. I have a ridiculous amount of space and lighting that theoretically should be working. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Clara
