Conversation on bus

There are 68 y/o identical twins that are special needs and inseparable. In the transit world they are pretty well known and Intercity Transit put them on the cover of the transit guide. Not only does this show how well liked they are, but it made them instant "celebrities". Many of the passengers absolutely love them.

Each year they go to summer camp and before they go, they have a list of items they should bring. Last year they needed to bring a white T-shirt to tie-dye and a bit of discussion about what colors they would tie-dye them. Over a couple of weeks, I hounded them to make sure they didn't forget the needed items, including the T-shirts.

A couple of weeks go by without me seeing them so I know they made it to camp and one day they show up at the bus stop. One of them is wearing her newly tie-dyed T-shirt and proudly showing it off.

I asked the other one where her T-shirt was hers and this conversation ensued.

me "Beth, where's your T-shirt?"

Beth "I didn't do one."

me "You didn't do one? Why not?"

Beth "I did my socks instead"

me "Your socks?"

Beth "Yep, my socks."

me "Are you wearing them?"

Beth "Nope. They turn my feet different colors"

At this point I'm laughing along with the rest of the bus.

Beth's sister "Want to know why she tie-dyed her socks?"

me "why."

Beth's sister "Because they wouldn't let her tie-dye her underwear."

By this time I am cracking up.

Beth "I'm glad they didn't."

me "why?"

Beth (straight faced) "Because my butt would be all different colors too."

Beth and her sister started laughing, the passengers are rolling and at this point I have to pull the bus over to regain my composure. I'm not sure I will ever forget that conversation, and I know I will never forget them.

Life's good
