Not a Cymbidium

{{gwi:174390}}The picture shows a plant big enough to be, but it is not a Cymbidium. This is a Coelogyne mooreana 'Brockhurst' FCC/RHS HCC/AOS that I found for a bargain price recently. The pot was overflowing and the root ball tightly wound around the pot.

I spent quite a bit of time on dividing this. I soaked it and worked it with my fingers as much as possible. However there were more than a dozen leads and the roots were so tight that I didnÂt get as much of the root as I would have liked.

Now I have a bakers dozen plants and about the same number of backbulbs. I am going to let the plants get established in their new pots for a couple of months before doing anything with them. They each have an active new growth, so the roots should recover well.

One nice thing is that I already have a division of the exactly same plant so I know {{gwi:174388}}

IÂm not sure what I will do with the backbulbs. It is a twice awarded plant, so very collectible. On the other hand, I am knee deep in them.

If anybody would like to have one for a dollar plus shipping, ($7 total) and has the space and time to play with a backbulb, let me know. I will be away for the weekend, but will catch up on email on Monday. First come first served.

    Hi, Richard,

Nice-looking plant, awarded or not. Yummy flowers.

Once again, you've been magnanimous to forum members and generous with your personal time, plus soon after the Petite Plaisance Caper which benefited many of us.

    What a guy!

    Many thanks, Whitecat8

(I'm declining your kind offer - the Coelogyne's too big for my focus on smaller plants.)

You can use th e Gardenweb email to reach me. Spam-wise, it is never a good idea to leave your email addresses in a forum.

I have lots of these backbulbs, several with a leaf. This plant Grows in Vietnam in high mountain cloud forests. It blooms on immature growth. The flowers last pretty well.

If you are going to have one Coelogyne this is the one to have.

Hmmm... VERY tempted but don't have the space or proper cultural conditions for this one. If you ever want to get rid of any backbulbs for warm-intermediate plants I would be interested in giving it a try.

I just got back from a VERY full weekend. My grandson is now a 2nd Lt in the Army Signal Corps and has a BS in Electrical Engineering. Best of all, his father has to salute him now. Saw a lot of family.

Now I am packing boxes of orchids and see that there are a couple of the backbulbs left. I had a lot of email and I hope I got all the requests answered. If you didn't hear from me this morning, send it again, please. As always "Orchids" in the subject helps me see it. Richard and the at is LindbergDesigns.com

If you have any left, I'll take one too - can't go wrong with a $1 plant.

PS: Congrats on your grandson, I'm sure you're very proud of him :)

I still have a few left. The first group should have started arriving today. Next shipping will be Monday. These are backbulbs with a good chance to start new growth.

Richard, I can't grow mountain-high plants here but just wanted to salute you for your generosity. The forum is lucky to have you on board!

BTW - heck of a bargain at $7!!!

The last of the available backbulbs are out the door this morning. Thank you for your participation, and I hope they all sprout for you.
