What did you cut off? The leaves or the flower spike? Post a picture.

Flower spike. It's brown on the very tip of where I trimmed. And yes, I know, these are all probably different types of orchids and they should not be kept in window boxes. Not my choice.

That spike will not flower again. You can cut it off all the way down. Give the plant good light and don't overwater. It will flower again in a year if given the proper care.

I gave a detailed explanation of how I am caring for the orchids... anything you could suggest that I do differently so I'm giving them the optimal care? I'm planning on taking the pots out next to the pool each morning for about two hours so they can get some (screen filtered) sun. Anything else?

Does your plant have a tag? What is it potted in?

I have no idea if the heat of the car killed the plant. Orchids do everything slowly, even die! lol.

If the leaves look good, then you should move the plant out to a bright spot on your pool area, not direct sun but bright. It should not be kept too wet.
I am growing in Florida and the high humidity and heat has been hard on some of my plants. You need good air movement around the plant when it is this hot/humid. For now, give it good light and do not let it dry out completely.

Without a name or a better picture, its hard to tell what you have. Try to get a better photo of the plant.
