I'm wondering about your layout

Why do designers put two chairs facing a television? I know it looks more formal and attractive then a large sectional but isn't it more comfortable to lay back and watch tv or admire the fireplace? I have a great room with a tv over the fireplace and I'm not sure for a family of 4 what is the right way to lay out the furniture. I would greatly appreciate advice or info. Your designs are outstanding!

Thank you, I also prefer a comfortable sectional for a great room, especially with a fireplace. This room that you are commenting on is actually a formal living room which is why we have the two larger sofa's facing each other. The two chairs facing the TV do recline so it is still a great room to watch a movie in. Good luck with your project.
