Is it too late?

Two days ago I discovered my Potinara Mary Gray's roots were soft and rotting. This is a huge plant that I really love.

So when I discovered this I pulled it out of its pot and cleaned it up really well and cut off the mushy roots. As a result, I am left with some short cream colored roots and some of the thread-like things that once were roots. The root mass was thickly clustered together before I cleaned up. Almost as large as the size of a grapefruit. I also sprayed with Thiomyl (Clearys 3666???) fungicide.

Now it is August, when all repotting should be already over and done with. Will this orchid grow more roots soon, or will it wither away and die since spring is far away?

I had planned on spraying with KLN while waiting with the hope that it would force roots.

What is the next thing that I should do?

thanks for any suggestions.
