AARGH!!! Brown Scale!

I've got brown scale beasties rampaging through my orchids! I'm guessing that the q-tip and alchohol method of treating a brown scale infestation on an orchid is somewhat less-than-effective, because it seems that the one I thought I'd successfully treated has now spread it to several of it's neighbors. I've tried repotting, scraping off the critters, wiping them off with alcohol, and it just seems to put them in hiding for a week or two, then they show up again.

To save the rest of my orchids (separating them out isn't really an option, because I've got just one large light stand that they all live on in addition to the greenhouse window over my sink) should I just bite the bullet and discard the infested plants? I hate to loose them, but I'd hate it even more if the rest of my 'green babies' got infested. What would you do?
