Success!

I learned so much from this forum, and I believe I have a Phal that has a happy home now. I get the fact that for advanced orchid growers, this is the easy stuff, but considering that I never actually chose to grow an orchid, you guys did an amazing job teaching me, LOL! (This is the one I rescued from the front desk at my workplace, after watching it slowly shrivel up from lack of proper attention.)

I came across some "orchid bark for Phalaenopsis" and bought some. Which sent me back here to find out how to use it best, because it was obvious that the clay pot was just not the way to do this right, and I came up with the deli container with big holes. It now gets watered once or twice a week, and every other time gets a wash with, um, some homemade fertilizer.

Every time it's fed, it pops out another root. The roots are now growing down into the bark, and when a piece of bark or perlite falls out of the holes I just put it back in the top. It lives in a cache pot with about 1.5" of small river rock in the bottom, so that any excess water will not pool around the bottom of the real "pot."

My question now is about the roots. One of them is growing fast, and is poking out of one of the holes. I can see that others are on the way to doing the same thing. I know they need air, but should I be concerned about this? I'm just wondering if it needs a bigger container, or a bigger cache, or what? There are two photos, and I only know how to add one at a time.
