Should I trim the roots more?

Someone gave me this orchid they'd been taking care of. It was growing in a pretty small pot, so I transferred it to a wicker hanging basket. A lot of the roots were dead, only a few were a nice green color. Since it's been repotted, more of the roots have turned green, but some that are attached to the now healthy roots look pretty bad. It's been inside or shade (I believe it's a phal), it was only in the light for the pictures:

Also, are the yellow arrows pointing to new stalkS? The black arrow points to the old one I cut.
