For me the right time to repot is when I have time to do it. I'm doubling the size of my warm greenhouse and just finished construction of the new part 1 week ago. Now all the plants have to move into that section leaving the old section devoid of plants so I can totally remodel it. When that is finished, the plants will be spread over the entire area.

I physically have to pick up every plant, log it in my data book and place it in it's new position. This is the ideal time to repot it and I have been repotting like crazy since I started the process. A friend of mine has a large number of Cymbidiums, also retired and up there. He says the same thing. The right time to repot his Cymbidiums is not when they finished blooming, which is what the books tell you, but when he has the time and energy to do it.

The plants want to live and reproduce They will adjust and life will go on. You found that plant when you found it, that's the reality of it. Pot it or mount it the way you want to deal with it, it will adjust and be fine.

I was concerned that it would languish in the pot and dry up because it is nearing "winter" here. Anyway, it is already potted up and hung on a fence, where it gets a.m. early light up to 11:30 am.

So we will see. I try to follow the orchid rules, but I see so many orchids just stuck on trees and left to exist in pots in my neighbourhood, and they seem to thrive, and here I am reading and worrying.
